You are on the right track: DIY for it's own sake is not productive when it comes to the "purpose" of making movies. I have such little free time that if I can find something that works inexpensively and quickly that is really the only thing that makes sense.

BTW; although you consider yourself "less engaging" than some of the other vloggers, I find your style very easy to listen to, and pay attention to the details which is a very good thing; I am not waiting for the inane quip or gimmick, I am comfortably waiting for the next bit of useful information. I appreciated hearing about how it makes it easier to isolate yourself to get the video done.
